The heart of Derby's Maker community
Derby Makers meet at the Radio Communication Museum of Great Britain every Thursday, and on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, 6pm – 9pm. The museum is brand new and currently being prepared for opening to the general public. Where required we are helping with this preparation and shaping the workshop area for our making needs.
All are welcome – the group is aimed at any maker, including craft, electronics, robotics, woodworking, model making and so on.
Our intent is to maintain and grow a local community of people who have an interest in making something regardless of any existing skills or experience. We already have members who are knowledgeable in woodwork, cooking, electronics, home automation, programming, rope-making and many other skills, and we all enjoy sharing what we know and learning something new or just have a good chat.
We are an informal group, but to look after the running of the group and to manage day-to-day affairs we have an internal group known as the Steering Committee, which includes the formal positions of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. The Steering Committee is made up of a maximum of 12 members, with 7 places currently taken. If you’d like to have a voice on the committee please let us know.
