The heart of Derby's Maker community
The project is moving into the flight phase, with two launches planned on the 25/26 August and 15/16 September: the first date on the weekend is the planned flight day and the second the backup in case of weather problems. Requests for permission to fly have been sent to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) who control UK airspace for these dates.
The flight electronics have been tested and work on the ground! We are also just about to install a Tracker unit on a commercial radio mast in Derbyshire so that we can track the balloon flight. The tracker unit will be connected to the Internet & feed it’s data to the HAB tracker at https://tracker.habhub.org/ one of the many HAB community resources available to help those flying High Altitude Balloons.
The Launch team will be members of the Museum’s technology club, though any member of code club is welcome to get involved.
