The heart of Derby's Maker community
I am a computer scientist by training and profession (I am a lecturer in Computing and Mathematics at the University of Derby) but dabble in electronics, music, and photography along side for fun. I tend to make gizmos–pieces of tangible hardware with a simple goal, whether that is to be a toy, respond to what is around them, or whatever. I am always enthusiastic about making audio synthesis hardware, but I tend to get more interested in the music and thus use instruments that others have produced.
Through Derby Makers I enjoy meeting people with a similar philosophy of learning through experimentation, that the world around us can be understood, Â and the belief that most things, although difficult, are possible.
